#OurPlanetWeek – 2025

Greetings, fair traveler!

This year, I participated in Our Planet Week (2025).

Introduction

Our Planet Week is a non-profit art movement founded by digital artist & illustrator Asia Orlando in 2020 and has continued yearly since. You can read more about it on their website ourplanetweek.com [1] (note: the website has not been updated for 2025 as of May 1, 2025) and on their instagram @ourplanetweek [2] .

The challenge starts on April 22, Earth Day, each year and ends around May 1. There are a total of 5 art prompts, making for 1 prompt every 2 days. The prompts change each year and are released ahead of time around the beginning of April so artists can brainstorm and prepare their pieces.

I am happy to say I was able to finish and share my work for all the prompts!

Here are my illustrations for this year:

Prompt 1 – Touch The Ground

Rocks with moss

I absolutely love the texture of moss! Just the right amount of grit and fluff.

So for the first prompt, I had to go with some nice mossy rocks in the middle of a river in the forest!

Also, dappled sunlight along water bodies and greenery is peak aesthetic for me.

Prompt 2 – Feel the Air

Sandstone archway

Wind tunnel effects are wild, especially in large canyon landscapes! So powerful, yet refreshing and freeing.

Prompt 3 – Hear the Ocean

Sandstone formations on a beach

I absolutely love beaches with sea stacks (big, isolated rock formations eroded into being by the ocean)!

It’s quite surreal listening to the waves gently slosh into them while seagulls chatter in the background.

Prompt 4 – See the Wild

Back to the mossy rocks and dappled sunlight!

This time, it’s animated!(Press the play button on the screen controls if it doesn’t auto play)

There’s something very whimsical about natural bridges in the wild, that, too, when it’s over babbling brooks and a sunny spot in the forest.

Prompt 5 – Go Beyond

Whales swimming through the sky

Ah, yes, the most quintessential critter of any fantasy genre: sky whales!

Sky whales, in my view, perfectly capture the grandeur of the ocean with the allure of space.

It was really fun to explore ideas for each prompt and it helped in pushing me out of my comfort zone. I hope to join in the coming years as well!

Till next time 🙂
